DEPED LEGAZPI CITY DIVISION NOW ON-LINE
By: Jolan B. Torres, Sr.
    DIvision ICT Coordinator

    With the current developments in ICT, the Department of Education Division of Legazpi City is making its way to keep abreast with the rapidly changing cyber community. The dvision portal is now on line with the website address http://www.depedlegazpicity.ph. Designed under web 2.0 technology, the site allows two way communication - downloading and uploading mechanisms. Division issuances, report templates, and instructional materials can now be downloaded from the site. Another feature is the On-line Reports Submission where the site automatically diverts emails/reports in any format to the Units and Sections concerned. The site also provide links to other useful websites like DepEd Central and Regional Offices, PRC, GSIS, PhilHealth, Land Bank, HDMF, ect.

  Paperless division transactions is eyed. Memoranda will just be posted in pdf format and all schools can simultaneously download the comunication, a great cost cutting measure getting rid of risograph and photocopy reproduction.

    The site was launced last December 19, 2011 during the 5th Regular Division MANCOM Meeting at People's Hall, Albay Capitol Building, Legazpi City.

Message from the Office of the SDS

COMMENCEMENT MESSAGE

Joys and sorrows! Dreams and disappointments! Successes and failures! Triumph and struggles! All these are captured in one shining moment – your GRADUATION DAY!

My dear graduates, as you look back at every single moment of your journey as a student, you cannot help but be nostalgic and swell in pride of what you have finally achieved. All the pressures, sleepless nights and stress that you have gone through were all worth it. You came out victorious and elated of what you have accomplished despite all the odds. This is another milestone in your life: another feather in your golden cap. We salute you, dear graduates and parents for a job well done. You truly deserve a recognition for every sacrifice attached to this achievement.

The Department of Education’s theme for this school year’s graduation exercises is, "Your Gift of Learning; Our Tool for Nation Building". Indeed this theme captures the essence of your life as a student especially at this trying moment of our country where economic and professional crises could be observed and felt everywhere. While our government does everything that it could to alleviate the sufferings of our poor countrymen through the 4Ps (Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program), let me also share with you this 4Ps that will surely aid you in your pursuit for knowledge in the next phase of your life as a student.

The first P is PERSEVERANCE. A part of the song by Cyrus Miley, "The Climb" says,
 "The Struggles I’m facing, the chances I’m taking,
  Sometimes it might knock me down, but no I’m not breaking;
  I may not know it but these are the moments that I’m gonna remember most;
  Sometimes were gonna have to lose
  But its not about what’s waiting on the other side;
  But it’s the climb."

So my dear graduates, always do your best no matter what. Do not ever quit. Strive and be the best of what you are and what you can be.

The next P is PLAY. Remember the saying, cliché as it may sound, but this is still very applicable. "All work and no play makes Juan a dull boy." You’re still so young and energetic not to have fun and enjoy life. There must be proper balance between work and play. Cultivate friendship and camaraderie with people around you. Share laughter and celebrate as well as rejoice each other’s triumph and little victories. Learn from each other’s mistakes and disappointments. Don’t take things too seriously for after all you deserve the happiness that good people bring you. These are treasures in life that no amount of money cannot buy nor be demanded from anyone.

The third P stands for PATIENCE. Patience, my dear graduates, is a virtue. Have lots of it. This is your armor against some unreasonable people who are out there to put you down or difficult situations beyond your control. Practice patience in all your dealings with people especially those who are difficult to deal with. If the situation gets sticky, then by all means leave and exit gracefully so that conflicts and argument would be avoided.

Finally, the last P refers to PRAYER. Things don’t always come out as you expect them so. There are moments when you feel that everything and everyone is against you. These are the times when you feel so low and so disappointed; times when you think that you lost the battle. But, NO! These are trying moments for you to feel God’s presence and for you to befriend the Holy Spirit. Implore the aid of the Holy Spirit and everything else will turn out fine and you’ll come out a better and stronger person.

So, to all of you our dear graduates, remember and follow the 4Ps and be an agent of social change and be an instrument for Nation Building. My warmest congratulations to all of you. God bless you in all your endeavors. To God be the Glory.
